Defense Superior Service Medal

The Defense Superior Service Medal (DSSM) is the second-highest military decoration for the United States Department of Defense. This Medal is presented to the United States Armed force members who perform meritorious service in an exceptionally significant position. It is often awarded to General and Flag Officers. The Ribbon is divided by a red vertical stripe followed by a thin vertical white stripe, a wider blue stripe, and a thin yellow stripe proceeding outwards.
