Armed Forces Service Medal

The United States Department of Defense presents the Armed Forces Service Medal to the service members who have participated in a designated Military operation that is proven to be a significant activity and who have encountered unarmed foreign opposition or not have faced any imminent hostile action. The individuals who carried out service for at least 30 days of consecutive service or at least 60 days of non-consecutive service are eligible for this medal. The AFSM qualifying criteria for service members are those who have joined on or after June 1, 1992. The ribbon has a center section of vertical light blue stripe followed on either side by vertical stripes of yellow, light green, green, teal, and a thin yellow edge.
