The United States Department of Defense presents the Medal for Humane Action as a decoration to that person who performed meritorious participation for a minimum of 120 days of service between June 26, 1948, to September 30, 1949, in the Berlin Airlift. The Medal is circular and features an engraving of C-54 aircraft flying over a wheat wreath joined by the Berlin coat of arms.
