The Bronze Star Medal (BSM)/(BSV) is an award presented by the United States of America Armed Forces soldiers for bravery and acts of merit (meritorious service). Civilians serving with the United States Military forces are also eligible for this award. The Medal is made of bronze in the shape of a five-pointed star. At the center of the five-pointed star is an infused small five-pointed star. Heroic Achievement is written on the back of the star along with the recipient’s name.
