The United States Department of Defense presents the Southwest Asia Service Medal to the military personnel who performed duty being a part of the Persian Gulf War and sometime after. Their tenure should be between August 2, 1990, to November 30, 1995, and for Turkey and Egypt, between January 17, 1991, to November 30, 1995. The Circular medal features airborne and land-borne military equipment from desert and sea with an inscription at the center reading Southwest Asia Service.
