The United States Department of Defense presents the Korean Service Medal Ribbon to that person who served in the Korean War from June 27, 1950, to July 27, 1954. There were 13 campaigns that the United States Department of Defense recognized, and a star on the Medal denoted each member who participated. The Medal is circular and made of bronze. The Medal features an engraved image of a Korean gate with the transcript reading Korean Service around it.
