The Joint Service Achievement Medal is bestowed as a decoration presented by the United States Secretary of Defense to the officers below grade 0-6 who have performed an exceptional achievement that a Commendation Medal does not recognize. The Medal is bronze with a six-pointed star stacked on top of another with a bald eagle with spread wings holding three arrows with its claw and a shield on its chest.
