The Coast Guard’s medal honors the members of the U.S. Armed forces or allies who distinguish themselves with heroic acts on behalf of the U.S. Coast Guard. This honor doesn’t require the soldier to confront the hostiles. This medal is the greatest distinction a soldier can earn in exhibiting bravery. The medal is octagonal and features an image of the Coast Guard Seal.
